Dr Kana is an ear, nose and throat (ENT) surgeon, known formally as an otorhinolaryngologist. His work covers head and neck surgery, sinus and salivary gland surgery, ear surgery, and airway and sleep problems in adults and children, as well as skull-base surgery alongside neurosurgical colleagues.
Holds an academic appointment in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, University of the Witwatersrand. He regularly contributes to peer-reviewed academic research, including work on endoscopic (gland-sparing) salivary surgery and on measuring tongue strength to guide recovery after tongue cancer surgery.
Where a condition needs it, he works with colleagues in neurosurgery, oncology, audiology and speech therapy, so that the appropriate people are involved in your care.
